Stately Home Hertfordshire, Hitchin

This lovely ‘small’ stately home is situated in the countryside of Hertfordshire and is available for filming. Featuring a series of well proportioned rooms of various periods- the beautiful 18th century hall and drawing rooms, a Victorian dining room, and some later additions.

Gorgeous red brick elevations overlook a number of formal gardens. With an approach up a long gravel drive, the elevated position of the house offers great potential for filming.

The spectacular landscape garden, covering over 50 acres, is based on a classical formal design: long avenues of clipped beech hedges lead to temples, statues, lake and ponds. It was laid out about 1720 when the house was built, and the original patte d’oie (goose foot) architecture has been retained.

There is also a woodland garden with interesting plants, a lake with a Palladian lake cabin overlooking it, and a number of other statues and folly’s are situated across the grounds.

Other points of interest are the collection of very original barns, which could be used to dress a village setting or a rural farm scape, or to build within. Options to base on site are also available.
