Ensuring smooth operations during a shoot day involves meticulous planning and coordination. Here’s a comprehensive guide for managing a location during filming:
STEP 1: Coordinating in Advance of Shoot
- Power & Cabling: Assess available power, cable routes, and potential trip hazards.
- Lights & Air Con: Understand control mechanisms and liaise with building engineers if necessary.
- Rigging & Floor Protection: Coordinate with production suppliers and ensure floor protection where needed.
- Facility Contacts: Obtain contact details for engineers, building managers, and security.
- Waste Management: Arrange for rubbish disposal and recycling bins.
- Safety & Security: Verify fire safety measures, asbestos concerns, and security needs.
- Equipment & Facilities: Ensure access to necessary equipment, PPE, and amenities.
- Logistics: Plan loading areas, water points, toilets, and back-of-house spaces.
STEP 2: During the Shoot
- Radios & Oversight: Maintain communication and oversee filming activities to ensure safety and adherence to agreements.
- Location Department: Ensure the satisfaction of the location department to foster positive relationships.
STEP 3: After the Shoot
- Maintenance: Monitor toilets, rubbish collection, and cleanliness post-shoot.
- Condition Assessment: Assess any damages and ensure reinstatement of areas used.
- Clean-up & Restoration: Remove temporary signage, turn off lights, and restore the location to its original state.
STEP 4: After the Strike
- Walkthrough & Reconciliation: Conduct a thorough inspection with the location manager, reconcile costs, and gather feedback for improvement.
